I think it's fair to say that Mizuno wasn't at the forefront of the minimalist shoe movement, however that changed in January 2013. The Mizuno Wave EVO Levitas is part of the Wave EVO Collection, a brand new line from Mizuno designed from the ground up for the midfoot runner. Levitas is light in Latin, a language that no one speaks anymore, except for the Pope and the Catholic church wonders why their numbers continue to decline.

This Saturday March 9 will see a number of Colorado elites bound for sea-level for the U.S. 15k Championships in Jacksonville, FL. Elite Athlete Coordinator Richard Fannin's stellar recruiting efforts has this year's Gate River Run as the most competitive field ever assembled in the race's 36 year history.

On February 17th, Omar Martinez of Denver won the 22nd running of the Austin Marathon and for that performance he is our Mizuno/Boulder Running Company/RunColo runner of the month for February. Omar is a Denver North graduate and a member of Lee Troop's Boulder Track Club. If you run many races in the Denver area, chances are you have come across Nick Sterner. In fact you may have read about Nick and his son Nick Jr. in a Runner's World piece, circa 2007, about how they used running to overcome their drug addiction.

These days Nick is still running and has launched Feet on the Street, a business that puts on almost one race per year in Denver. Last December, I was at their Christmas Carol Classic 5K/10K and can vouch that Nick does a tremendous job putting on a race, something he is truly passionate about. We fired off Nick a few questions to find out more about Feet on the Street, Inc. Read below to find out what Nick is doing for the running community and local charities in Denver.

The Harlem Shake continues to grip the nation, Colorado State's basketball home winning streak was snapped by U of New Mexico and the largest snow storm of the winter season hit Denver. It was the fourth weekend of February, 2013.

The former University of Oregon All-American, Mattie (Bridgmon) Suver, has brought her talents to Boulder. Mattie currently trains with the American Distance Project in Colorado Springs and holds PRs of 16:02 in the 5K, 32:59 in the 10K and 1:13:14 in the half marathon.

Last year Mattie won the Heart & Sole Half Marathon in 1:17:42, the Avery Brewing Four on the Fourth 4K and did a lot of racing in Texas, where she also ran in the Olympic Trails Marathon, her first marathon. The 25 year old now lives in Boulder and runs for Boulder Running Company/adidas.

Five miles into the 2013 US Cross Country 12k Championships, CU-Alum and BRC/adidas runner Andy Wacker found himself sandwiched between two of America’s greatest distance runners. On one side: Dathan Ritzenhein, the former American Record holder in the 5,000, three-time Olympian, and former CU All-American. On the other side, Matt Tegenkamp, two-time Olympian and yet another sub 13 minute 5,000 runner. With long blond hair, held down by a thin band across his forehead, the lean, 24 year-old glided lightly alongside them, unafraid and unintimidated. Wacker was holding pace with some of the best runners in US history.
