I'd rather not talk about that Broncos loss last night, so we will start with a positive. The University of Colorado won the NCAA cross-country title on Saturday, their fourth under coach Mark Wetmore since 2001. The Buff entered the race ranked third and defeated No 1. Northern Arizona, 149 points to 169. The CU women's team finished seventh overall with 265 points.

Adams State continued their D2 dominance, winning their fifth national championship in the past six years. The Adams State women's team took second, while Western State finished in third. It was the fourth weekend of November and we have a few races to recap.

She went on to run for Adams State University where she won a national championship in the 5,000 meter run. Kristen is now lighting up the local racing circuit, winning the Farmers 5000 in 17:17 and most recently The Great Candy Run 5K in 17:11. Now racing for Newton's Team Elite, Kristen took some time to answer a few questions from RunColo

Normally it takes runners a few stabs at running 26.2 miles before they figure the marathon out, but not Malia Mullen. The Edgewater resident ran the Atlanta Marathon in October, her first, and won the race in 2:54:52.

For this great performance, we are awarding Malia the title of Mizuno/Boulder Running Company/RunColo, runner of the month. Thanks to Mizuno and BRC, Malia will pick up a free pair of Mizunos.

The first weekend of November was highlighted by the New York City Marathon, and while no American men or women made the top ten. Colorado was well represented at the race, especially on the women's side, led to the line by Adriana Nelson's 2:35:05, good enough for 13th place and first place American female.

The Denver Broncos are 7-1 and have reached the halfway point of their season, as they head into their bye week. The Cardinals and Red Sox are notted up two games to two in the World Series, and the Obama administration is in disarray as the fallout over the Angela Merkel phone surveillance heats up. Get dressed up in your favorite Halloween costume and head to the races, this Saturday. One of my favorite races of the year is the Hoofin' It Through the Hollows 5K, held out at deKoevend Park in Centennial. This is a run that I have raced and timed, fantastic event that is held on Saturday evening.

If you're up in the Loveland area, check out the Phantom 4 Miler. Colorado Race Timing has timed this event for the last three years and it's also another race that I have run as well. Besides being a fantastic event, the Phantom 4 Miler has the best post race breakfast that I have ever experienced.

I'm analytical and a big fan of the biohacking movement. Hacking is making simple adjustments to the way we do things, to become more efficient and get the most bang for our buck.

The 2006 Denver Marathon was my first marathon, I ran it in 3:28:55. That next year, I ran a 2:58:47, when you're simply starting out in the marathon, the fun part is it's easy to knock off huge chunks of time. From 2007, to 2011, I have managed to get my marathon PR down to a 2:43:50.

I'm at a point now where I am fighting, clawing, doing anything I can to improve a minute here and there. In turn, I'm going to share all the little things that I do or look at it, to try to marginally improve my speed and reduce my time, with the end goal of breaking 2:40:00.
