You know those people that have to stay busy, that's how I would describe Kylee Schuler. She is always on the go, as a full time student, writing for RunColo, working for Colorado Race Timing, working for Ironman, volunteering her time, or putting in some miles, the girl is on the move.

Back in April she wrote an article for RunColo on her return to collegiate running at Metro State University. Now her collegiate ...

The Zappos Rock 'n' Roll Las Vegas Marathon and Half Marathon saw more that 25,000 runners gather on the Vegas Strip. The women's marathon featured Coloradans Nuta Olaru and Adrian Neal battle it out to the finish, with Nuta taking the victory by one second in 2:51:31.

Strong winds met the runners on their way back to the finish, but the lights of Sin City greeted them when they finished.

In celebrity news, Kate Gosselin came back to run the half in 2:10:10. Sean Payton had some time off from his job as coach of the New Orlean Saints to run the half in 2:18:32. Sean Lowe from the Bachelor ran the half in 2:23:05, actress Nicole Sullivan ran the half in 1:57:35 and Nikki Reed finished in 2:38.

Scroll below for the results of Colorado runners who partook in the Vegas Marathon and Half Marathon.

Hurricane Sandy prevented Alisha Williams of Colorado Springs, from running the New York City Marathon, so she had to come up with a backup race, and that race was the California International Marathon (CIM). She became the first American female to win CIM in the last 12 years, in an impressive 2:34:57.

Many Colorado residents decided not to run CIM this year with last week's forecast calling for hard rains and high winds. The weather forecast was spot on, runners had to face winds of 20-23 mph and close to a half of an inch of rain by 12:00 pm.

Mario Macias was the top finisher from Colorado, finishing in sixth place overall and running a 2:20:01. Last year Macias ran a 2:15 at CIM. This year Mario has run four marathons and oddly enough this was his fastest one, just a few months ago he ran the Quad Cities Marathon in 2:23.

In 2011 the winning time at CIM was 2:11:50 for the men and 2:33:40 for the women. This year Daniel Tapia won the race in 2:16:29, 4:28:19 slower than last year and Alisha Williams' time was only 1:17 slower than last year's winning time. I'm actually surprised that the times weren't quite a bit slower than 2011, testament to how tough those elites were at the race.

The highlight of the week was Powerball, which saw two lucky individuals win the $587 million dollar prize. We also saw millions of other Americans toss away their hard earned money with odds of winning approaching 1 in 175 million.

Nolan Daniels then fooled over two million Facebook users with his bogus Powerball photo when people actually thought that a) he was the winner and b) that he was going to share it with them. Lindsay Lohan was also arrested in New York City, of course that happened a lot in 2012.

Yes, it's the final month of the year, it is December 2012. We will also have separate posts for the California International Marathon and Las Vegas Marathon.

George Zack is a World Champion, a World Champion burro racer. What exactly is burro racing, well pack burro racing is indigenous to the great state of Colorado and dates back to the mining days of yesteryear. The runner must lead the burro on a rope that is limited to 15 feet and the burro must carry 33 pounds of traditional mining gear, which consist of a pick, gold pan, and shovel.

Forty-three year old George Zack hails from Broomfield and almost won the Triple Crown of burro racing this year. George won the Fairplay World Championship Race which was 29 miles, he then won the Leadville "Boom Days" race which was 22 miles, but came in third at the Buena Vista "Gold Rush Days" 12 mile course, losing by less than two seconds.

The Lions lost, massive traffic pileups in Texas and thousands of Americans lined up to buy a flat screen TV from some third tier manufacturer in South Korea. It was Thanksgiving Day 2012.

We have a lot of races to cover, the youngsters were obviously home over break as we saw a large amont of college and high school runners pop up in the local results, including one race where the fastest time of the day was only good enough for second place.

It seems the only thing growing faster than trail running is the market for lightweight, less-traditional trail shoes. Within that exploding category, New Balance has been a noticeable player. Enter the new 1010 and New Balance might not have become the Lebron James of lightweight, less-traditional trail shoes, but they are certainly near MVP level. Simply put, I found this shoe to be imperfect, but I haven’t fallen in love with a pair of shoes like I have with the 1010 in a long time.
