Historically the Colfax Marathon and half marathon have been light on competition. Last year was the first year that any man broke 2:40 in the marathon and the first time a woman broke three hours in the marathon.
In the early years of Colfax they offered up some prize money for the half marathon which brought out a handful of Kenyans, but after 2007 the prize money dried up and even the half marathon become a relatively uncompetetive race.
Colfax Ave. has a long history of commerce from Denny Neagle
seeking companionship to Jack Kerouac and Neal Cassady hitting the bars, now the Colfax Marathon will be handing out a Grover Cleveland
, Ron Paul's favorite president by the way. Ok, you probably won't literally get a Grover Cleveland $1,000 bill, but if you break the course record you will get $1,000.
The way that I read it is that ANYONE who breaks the course record gets $1,000, I didn't see any stipulations that multiple people can't win, but I will get clarification.
