This Sunday the Mile High Mile will take place at Sports Authority Field. Last year's race had over 2,000 people registered and this is a great event to take your kid to as they break down the waves by grade so that they can compete with children of similar ages. However, they also have waves for the adult males and females.

Last years race was won by Adam Rich in 4:28 and high school phenom Tabor Scholl in 5:21.

Boulder's own Jason Hartmann finished a surprise fourth place at the Boston Marathon this morning, running 2:14:31. The weather here in Boston was a hot and humid 80+ degrees during the race, with no cloud coverage and little breeze, providing the runners with no reprieve from the heat. The temperature on the road was a blistering 102 degrees at the finish. After the race Hartmann said, "It was just a battle. There were so many times that you just wanted to throw in the towel, but you just fought on." Hartmann certainly did fight on as he was only in seventh place with a few miles to go but used his strength to secure his fourth place finish. ...

Who was that white guy with a water bottle strapped to his back leading the Boston Marathon for the first 10K? It was Mesa, Colorado's Glen Randall, a Dartmouth grad and the 2010 Pikes Peak Ascent winner. Glen's lead was incredible, but ultimately he slipped to a 60th place finish.

With temperatures in the 80's, more than 4,000 runners defered their entries until 2013. Wesley Korir won the race in 2:12:40, nine minutes and thirty-eight seconds slower than Geoffrey Mutai's record time last year on a day that featured perfect conditions. The women's race was won by Kenyan Sharon Cherop who outkicked Jemim Sumgong in the final 600 meters to finish in 2:31:50.

Boulder's Jason Hartmann did Colorado proud, taking fourth overall and becoming the first U.S. finisher. An impressive performance to say the least. Below is a list of the top Colorado performers at the Boston Marathon.

With a light dusting of snow on the ground from the night before, thousands of runners headed to downtown Littleton to race the tenth annual Platte Half Marathon. Temperatures hovered in the high 40's and the wind gusted from the north, creating a stiff headwind for most of the 13.1 miles on the point-to-point net downhill course that finished at the Buckhorn Exchange.

At first I attempted to rank the top ten defunct races in Colorado, but considering that I had not run several of these races, I gave up and just compiled a list. I then realized that my list had eleven races and what's better than a top ten list, a top eleven list. I will rank the number one race though, at the bottom

I've only been living in Colorado for ten years, so I couldn't go too far back, but let me know your thoughts, what race did I miss and what race would be number one in your book?

And on the 7th day the endurance sport gods created…the Garmin 910xt

Every so often there is a product that hits the market that is a MUST HAVE for your training regime, and I can say without reservation that the Garmin 910xt GPS multi-sport watch is one of those products. I have to admit that I am a little biased as I have been a Garmin supporter for several years (Edge 405, Edge 500), but this one takes the cake. Needless to say, when I heard of this watch that mixed the GPS functionality of its predecessors, with a smaller watch design, ANT+ technology to track heart rate/power/speed/cadence (the list goes on), and state-of-the-art wireless swim metrics, I had to have one.
