Look... me and the Run Colorado people got this little misunderstanding. See, they're Run Colorado.. I'm RunColo.

"They got the Golden Arches, mine is the Golden Arcs. They got the Big Mac, I got the Big Mick. We both got two all-beef patties, special sauce, lettuce, cheese, pickles and onions, but their buns have sesame seeds. My buns have no seeds."

I couldn't resist, who doesn't love "Coming to America," so I shot the owners of Run Colorado a few questions to see how things were going and how the name change from Boulder Running Company to Run Colorado has gone over.

Swimmer-turned-cyclist-turned-trail-and-ultra-runner Chris Vargo is no stranger to addiction, but thankfully for him it's paid off in ...

Tim Tebow was cut by the Patriots, former WBO heavyweight champion Tommy Morrison died and college football opened up with eight FCS teams beating FBS teams, in some wild upsets by the little guys. Oh and the Buffaloes probably won their only game of the season, beating the Rams of CSU, who were hoping for their one and only win of the season.

It was the last weekend of August and the first weekend of September and happy Labor Day to the American workforce.

This Sunday, Newton Running Elite's - Nicole Chyr and Tyler McCandless will race the Kauai Marathon in Hawaii. The Kauai Marathon is considered one of the more difficult road marathons in the country with an elevation gain of ~2,205 feet, to put this in perspective the Denver Rock 'N Roll Marathon has an elevation gain of 400ft and Big Sur Marathon which is considered a challenging/hilly course has 1,660ft of gain. Thus, this is not a fast marathon.

Tyler McCandless is hoping for his third consecutive victory at the Kauai Marathon. Last year he ran a 2:23:51, while battling the heat and the rain. Tyler owns the Kauai Marathon course record, which he set in 2011 when he ran a 2:23:19.

Pearl Izumi likes to push the envelope with their advertising campaign. It all started with the "Run Like an Animal" campaign, "The Marathon. Once a Test of Will, Now a Test of Patience" and the "We are not Joggers" and to pushing unsanction racing. They even have these ridiculous sexual ads for cycling, here and here.

It appears now that Pearl Izumi has gone a bit too far and is now offering up a public apology on their Facebook page for an ad that ran in Canadian Running Magazine, which they have now pulled.

In Japanese, sayonara means goodbye and it was sayonara to the Miuzno Wave Precision & Elxir and konnichiwa to the replacement model called the Mizuno Wave Sayonara. The shoe caters to neutral runners and is 1.5 ounces lighter than the Precision and an ounce lighter than the Elixir.

I've been amazed at the reduction in shoe weight over the last couple of years and the Sayonara is using a new midsole foam called U4ic, which Mizuno claims is 30% lighter, softer and just as durable. The Mizuno Sayonara hits the scales at 7.9 ounces in a size 9. The heel is 24mm, forefoot 14mm, for a drop of 10mm.

Earlier this summer at a barbeque, someone was asking about my running background and asked if I had been a professional runner, referring to a few years ago. I immediately answered "no," but then backtracked with "well, what is a professional runner?" I won $2,000 in a race once, did that make me professional? I don't think so, but it got me thinking about how we identify ourselves as runners, and which Colorado runners really are professional.

After 282.3 miles of trail running and mountain biking around America’s highest incorporated city, Leadville, Colorado, this summer, elite ultra endurance athlete Travis Macy stood atop the podium as Leadman winner this Sunday. The pinnacle of the Leadville Race Series that includes the world famous Leadville 100 Mountain Bike and Trail Run races, the Leadman is a six-week event that requires athletes to keep coming back for more as they race for the lowest combined time in five events: a trail running marathon that tops at 13,186’, a 50-mile mountain biking or running race that climbs over 7,000’ on gnarly Rocky Mountain mining trails, the legendary Leadville 100 Mountain Bike Race now featuring nearly 2,000 competitors, the “insult to injury” (according to Macy) 10k Run the day after biking 100 miles, and, last but not least, one week later, the storied Leadville Trail 100 Run, during which, “We send you over the biggest, baddest mountains this country has to offer,” according to pre-race speaker Cole Chlouber.
