One of the newest additions to the Boulder Running Company/adidas team is James Strang and he is already one of their top runners. At the USA Cross Country Championships in St. Louis, James led the BRC/adidas team with his 9th place overall finish. Most recently he headed to Poland to race for Team USA in the World Cross Country Championships, where he placed 37th overall.

Laura Thweatt, formerly profiled here on RunColo as one of the best runners in Colorado you had never heard of, will be competing at the US Cross Country Championships in St. Louis on February 2nd. We caught up with the 24-year-old former CU cross country captain for a brief chat before she heads to the Midwest this weekend.

How often do you hear people say they simply don't have the time to run or exercise? If that's you and you need inspiration, look to Nicole Chyr and get off the couch.

The 34 year old Colorado native attended Cherry Creek High School and went on to Colorado State University. In high school she played softball and took up recreational running during college. Nicole is a single mom of a six year old boy, works full time, races year round and cross trains. She simply gets it done.

A month ago I was timing a race in Grand Junction and heard a few families talking about the Scholl family, they weren't even at the race and that made me smile. The family travels hundreds of miles together on the weekends, just to take in a road race with mom, dad and the kids all competing. It's hard not to notice the Scholl family and that's why we did an interview with them two years ago.

Tabor Scholl will be embarking on her sophomore year at West Grand High School in Kremmling and she has already accomplished more in her first year than most girls dream about in four years of high school. I personally am excited to see how her career unfolds, as I know many of the RunColo readers are as well.

Tristan Mitchell, 26 years old, from Centennial, CO is our Mizuno/Boulder Running Company/RunColo runner of the month for April.

Ok, I'm biased, Tristan is my training partner, but I think everyone will agree that he has had an impressive 2012, capped off by an even stronger month of April. Tristan took third at the Platte Half Marathon running a PR of 1:15:46 and finished third last Sunday at the Cherry Creek Sneak 10M in 56:03 (5:36 pace). He will be running the Colfax Marathon later this month.

Adriana Nelson-Pirtea, 32 years old, hails from Bucharest, Romania and now resides in Ft. Collins with her husband Jeremy Nelson together they operate Running Bums. She has a marathon PR of 2:28:52 which she ran in 2008 at the London Marathon.

In 2011 Adriana became a USA citizen and was cleared to compete for the USA in 2012. She competed at the Olympic Trials Marathon in January and was with the lead pack at mile 7 before dropping out of the race.

Adriana is sponsored by Asics and is one of the top female runners in the country.

Plantar fasciitis, that nagging heel pain that you feel one morning when getting out of bed and that gets progressively worse without treatment, is one of the most common running-related injuries. With the distinction of being one of the most common running injuries comes a slew of information and advice on the best treatment remedies. Unfortunately, the most common advice for this injury will not actually fix the underlying issues and will therefore not get you back out there running pain-free. Rest, rolling your foot on a golf/lacrosse ball or a frozen water bottle may all help your foot feel a bit better for the time being, but they will not fix the problem. Dr. Phillip Shanks, a sports chiropractor out of Evergreen, CO, offered his advice on the best path of treatment for when a runner is afflicted with plantar fasciitis.

Mizuno/Boulder Running Company and RunColo are proud to announce Chad Ricklefs as our February runner of the month. Chad recently ran a 2:30:52 in February at the Austin Marathon.

Chad is an ultramarathon coach and was the 2011 World Masters 100KM champion, has run a 5:24 for 50 miles and was the winner of the Leadville 100 in 2000 and 2002.

No one trains harder than Boulder's Tyler McCandless. The 25-year-old had big goals for the 2012 Olympic trials marathon and while 50th in the country's most competitive race, shares his disappointment over his 2:19 finish. McCandless remains optimistic for the future and, taking an old school racing attitude, already has his next marathon planned. He shares those thoughts in this video interview.
