Yeti Chase 10K 2011 - Morrison, CO
The Yeti Chase 5k/10k took place on January 23rd in Bear Creek Lake Park in Morrison, Colorado. This was the first year for the Yeti Chase and the race sold out a week before the race. The race had a capacity of 500 runners, due to parking restrictions imposed by the park. An amazing turnout for a first year race.
The race was put on by Racing Underground and as was expected they did a stellar job. The race featured chip timing and started on time with the 5K taking off five minutes before the 10K.
The 10k course featured rolling hills (map and elevation profile attached) and was a difficult but enjoyable course. The first couple of miles were all on roads which allowed the field to get spread out before runners were moved onto a narrower trail.
At the finish, music was playing and an announcer was calling out runner's names as they finished. The post-race festivities were great, with hot ramen noodles, big cups of hot chocolate, soda, water, etc.
Cash prizes were awarded to the overall winners in the 5K/10K and age group awards were Yeti glasses, super cool! All runners also received a technical t-shirt as part of the registration.
I heard nothing but positive feedback about the race and have zero recommendations.
