Quicker Quaker 5K (Lafayette)

The women get top billing here, this being one of the deepest women’s fields I can recall.
Boulder’s Nan Kennard continues to impress. Building on a 2010 year that saw her take 3rd at the US 20K championships, run a 2:35 marathon in Baltimore, and then take 3rd at the US Club Cross Championships, Kennard ran a PR on the up-and-down out-and-back course to take the win (and cash) in 16:38. Just behind, but far in front of her 2010 winning time, Tera Moody took second in 16:42. Early leader Fiona Docherty was 3rd in 16:50.
As I said though, this was a deep women’s field. 2010 BolderBoulder 10K winner Cassie Slade was 4th in 17:51, CU alum Rachel Gioscia Ryan 5th in 17:54, sub-3 marathoner Emma Keenan 6th in 17:55, BRC’s Lori Walker 7th in 18:23, Candice Chavez 8th in 18:35, Britain’s Kathy Butler 9th in 18:42, and sub-3 marathoner Kylee Schuler 10th in 18:57.
It’s not often that the top 10 women all go sub-19, impressive results ladies.
For the men then, it was Michael Chavez, in a BRC singlet and from Fort Collins, winning in 15:16. Anyone know anything on Chavez, couldn’t find much and other than his finish at the Fort Collins Thanksgiving Day Run, I’m not familiar with him. 2:15 marathoner Pat Rizzo took 2nd in 15:21. Bells Running Company / Spira / MarathonGuide.com / sometime Rock ‘n’ Roll pacer Japeth Ng-Ojoy was a distant 3rd in 16:04.
BoldRunning director Ewen North was 4th in 16:06, Runner’s Roost’s Matt Kempton 5th in 16:11, 2010 Colfax Half Marathon winner Bobby Reyes 6th in 16:15, Bruss Whol (?) 7th in 16:23, ultra stud Nick Clark 8th in 16:53, Ball State alum Aaron Hoover 9th in 17:01, and Juan Rodriguez 10th in 17:06.

Bandera 100K (Texas)
Boulder's Dave Mackey took the win at the US 100K championships, taking Nick Clark's year-old course record in the process. With Bandera being part of the Montrail Ultra Cup, Mackey's win gives him an auto entry into this year's Western States 100.
Nederland's Geoff Roes DNF'd with a rumored sickness.
Lake Arbor 5K (Arvada)
Omar Martinez's reign as the king of Lake Arbor lasted just a year. Alex Sico's 18:01 took down the defending champ. Martinez's 18:31 held off master's runner Keith Johnson, whose 18:38 was good for third. The race had 99 finishers.
Pikes Peak Road Runners Winter Series #1 (CoS)
The long-course saw Peter Maksimow run 44:07 to take the win over Michael Cernoia (45:23) and Joe McDaniel (46:24). Steph Meredith (55:07), Melissa Eichers-Bay (55:26), and Kim Baugh (58:23) filled the women's podium. The race had 291 finishers.
Dan Castaneda took the short-course win in 19:08 with Amanda Ewing's 22:05 good for a three-and-a-half minute win on the women's side. The race had 397 finishers.
