
Kilometers for C.O.P.S 5k (Golden, CO):
This second annual race was held to raise money for families of fallen Colorado law enforcement officers. Chris Fons took the men’s win in 20:01, while Matthew Rubio came in second in 20:17. Third place was claimed by Ryan Beale in 20:43. On the women’s side, Brooke Schledewitz-Jacobson took the victory in 22:23. Elizabeth Hayden came in second in 24:03, while Jennifer Ritchey took third in 24:13.
Stop, Drop and Run 5k (Monument, CO):
This race was put on by the Monument Area Firefighters in remembrance of fallen firefighter Jason Michael Murphy. Funds were collected to support the education of his two young daughters. Nathan McCrary of Colorado Springs won the men’s race in 17:38, while Gerald Romero of Colorado Springs took second in 18:00. Seth Woodring of Colorado Springs came in the third in 20:25. On the women’s side, Lara Crofford of Newville, PA, had just run the NCAA Division II National meet two days before took the win in 18:52. Fourteen year old Savannah Carnahan of Georgia came in second in 22:37, while third was taken by Erin Bellissimo of Colorado Springs took third in 22:42.
Arkansas River Bluegrass Marathon and Half Marathon (Salida, CO):
Half Marathon:
Ryan Smith took the win in the men’s race in 1:20.53, while Meredith Fertney won the women’s race in 1:52.30.
Marathon:
Andrew Catalano came in first in the men’s race in 2:47.13, while Anita Fromm won the women’s race in 4:01.32.
Denver Promise Run 5k (Denver, CO):
This race was put on in City Park to raise money and awareness for preeclampsia. On the men’s side, Karl Doege claimed the victory in 20:51, while on the women’s side, Emily Marotta took the win in 22:50.
