• Top 12 Colorado Running Performances for 2012

It's been another big year for Colorado running and many performances deserve recognition. RunColo's top 12 performances for the year are below. Debate is encouraged. Let us know where we erred, what we missed, and what your top 12 are. And of course, congrats to these 12 athletes on their accomplishments.

12 Cameron Clayton breaks course record at Steamboat 50. Interesting article on that race.

11 Joseph Manilafasha finishes 24th at NCAA cross country championships, team champion. Yeah he was only 24th, but he over-achieved, was Oklahoma State's fourth man, and had the best race of his collegiate career.

10 Wendy Thomas runs 2:34 in debut marathon at Olympic trials. She was 12th overall and the first Colorado finisher.

9 Trent Briney finishes second at JFK 50, under previous course record.

8 Augustus Maiyo wins Marine Corps Marathon, 2:20 in poor weather conditions.

7 Glenn Randall leads first 10k of Boston Marathon, beating Geoffrey Mutai.

6 Dakota Jones wins TransVulcania Ultra in the Canary Islands, beating Kilian Jornet.

5 Jake Hursyz runs 24:34 at Rocky Mountain Shootout, fourth-fastest ever.

4 Jason Hartmann fourth overall at Boston Marathon, 2:14 and top American.

3 Sage Canaday wins Mount Washington with new American record, faster than Matt Carpenter.

2 Emma Coburn and Shalaya Kipp go 1-2 at Olympic trials steeplechase.

1 Kim Dobson breaks course record in Pikes Peak Ascent, 2:24 to break a 31-year-old record.

Those top few are very deserving for sure. Kim's race is beyond anything we'll see in a long time, that is, unless she decides to throw down again soon!

Randall's #7 is way too high. Kind of "stunty". Probably should be around #12

I would have to say Sage Canaday's White River 50M CR was maybe more impressive than his Mt. Washington performance. Perhaps not as big of a stage, but it was one of the most head turning ultra performances of the year.

Hopefully you'll have to adjust this list after the TNF 50M this weekend.

I'll agree that the White River CR should be on there, it's in the running for UPOY.

What about Alisha Williams 5th place at Olympic Trials 10k. She also doubled back and was 9th in the 5k.

What about the performances in December?! I bet there will be some great running at CIM and other late season marathons

Stevie Kremer's win at the Jungfrau Marathon, the World Long Distance Mountain Running Championship, should be on that list. The USA Women's team gold medal win at that race with all 5 team members being from Colorado (Kim Dobson, Melody Fairchild, Brandy Erholtz, Ashley Arnold, & Gina Lucrezi) also deserves to be mentioned.

Well if teams are game, CU's 3rd at XC nationals deserves a node. Top runner was 24th yet still ran as a pack to claim 3rd by a good margin. They were ranked 7th going in.

A 2:20 marathon is relatively oh hum compared to his 1:02 half at the World Champs. I would change # 8. I could not agree more with dumprunner. CU was the better team, and has a better story than OSU. Number 11 should be replaced. Also, I concurr with jvalentine, what about the December preformances to come? This list seems a bit premature!

Definitely think Alisha Williams should be on that list somewhere she has had a hell of a year and also had an amazing debut at themarathon trials.
