Louisiana Marathon
For a while last year, Chuck "Marathon Junkie" Engle had Colorado Springs listed next to his name. While I don't think that's the case any longer, he is still chasing the most marathon wins in a career. That chase continues after a 2:44 runner-up finish here.
Potts Indoor Invitational - Boulder
Racing against the collegiates, Runner's Roost's Kent Wories clocked a 2:02.21 in the 800m for third.
Behind CU's Connor Winter (4:18.35) and Aric VanHalen (4:20.21), CU alum Matt Tebo was third in 4:20.59 for the one mile run.
Tebo doubled back in the 3000m and finished second in 8:53.08, trailing CU's Christian Thompson (8:37.77). Runner's Roost's Matt Kempton was third in 9:08.29.
Frosty's Frozen Five and Ten - Littleton
In the 5-mile race, Boulder Running Company's Adam Rich sped to a 25:37 first-place finish. Wearing Spira shoes and an accompanying singlet, Kenny Foster gave chase as runner-up in 26:14. Bobby Reyes was third in 27:17. Runner's Roost's Heather Utrata "earned the W" in the women's race with a 30:17 effort. Roost teammates Sarah Pizzo and Linnabah Snyder were second and third in 30:45 and 30:49, respectively.
The 10 miler was dominated by Monument's Jason Simpson in 53:46, a 4+ minute win. The top-6 men all finished under an hour. Littleton's Bridget Tschappat took the women's win in 1:07:32.
Carlsbad Marathon - California
Seven weeks after running 2:15:56 for fifth at CIM, Alamosa's Mario Macias took the marathon win in 2:22:24, two and a half minutes up on his closest challenger.
In the accompanying half marathon, professional triathlete Matty Reed from Boulder ran a very fast 1:05:56 for sixth. Although he has no ties to Colorado, another performance that caught my eye was elite mountain runner Joe Gray from Washington taking fourth in 1:05:19.
