• Christmas Carol Classic 5K & 10K Results

Happy Festivus to the readers of RunColo, today is the day you gather your family around, and tell them all the ways they have disappointed you over the past year!

The last Christmas race of the year was held out at Denver's City Park yesterday, the Christmas Carol Classic 5K & 10K. The weather was a bit chilly, the roads had a touch of ice on them, but the cool temps were perfect for running, as the 5K attracted 799 finishers and the 10K had 456 finishers.

    Christmas Carol Classic 5K

After we published the RunColo Top 12 5K City Park times of 2012, we knew there would be a mad rush to get on this elite list. Jonathan Huie made the trip from Ft. Collins to win the race and make our list, running a 16:46. Michael Boehmer of Waukesha, Wisconin was second in 18:19. John Costello of Denver was third, racing in with an 18:23.

Looking at their results, their chip time was slower than their gun time, pretty sure that is impossible.

Briana Boehmer of Waukesha was the first lady, running an 18:44, which also proved to be the third fastest 5K of the year at City Park. Ralston Valley junior Nicole Hahn took second, running a 19:34. Runner's Roost Sarah Ziherl was third, cruising in with a 20:32.

    Christmas Carol Classic 10K

Rob Kosick of Denver led from the gun, and cruised to victory running a 34:27. Brad Cooper of Littleton was second in 35:40, impressive at 46 years of age. Ricardo Ocampo, a high school student at Broomfield, was third in 36:09.

Joanna Zeiger, one of the top masters runners in Colorado, won the race in 37:22. Kelly Escorcia of Centennial was second with a 39:27. Krystal Ortiz of Denver finished in third with a 40:51.

Actually, that's only about half correct. Some chip times are faster than gun time, and others are slower.
