• 2011 US Half Marathon Championships - Colorado Results

Lots of Colorado's fastest men and women raced in Houston this morning, vying for a US championship, prize money, and also previewing what will be the Olympics trials marathon course.
Boulder's Nan Kennard, a former All-American at BYU who has risen from elite Coloradan to elite at the national level, established herself as Colorado's fastest female on the roads. She finished 3rd in 1:12:03, picking up $4,000. LetsRun is calling her a "surprise third," but they apparently over-looked her 2010 3rd place finish at the US 20K championships and a 3rd place finish at the 2010 Club XC Championships.

Just two spots behind in 5th, BRC's Tera Moody ran 1:12:30, a PR, and picked up $1,500. Alamosa's Zoila Gomez was 16th in 1:16:24.

    Boulder's Danielle Quatrochi was 33rd in 1:21:47.

Aaron Kennard's (Nan's husband) race report of Nan's race with pictures.

Deeper results aren't yet available, but are sure to include more Colorado runners.

For the men, Mo Trafeh, fresh off a stint of training in Morocco, out-kicked Ryan Hall for the win, 1:02:17 to 1:02:20. While I didn't think that Hall would win (and dumprunner owes me $5 as a result), I'm surpised that Trafeh took the win.

Boulder's Jorge Torres was first Coloradan, finishing 8th in 1:04:18. Larimer Square called that one.

Behind Torres, Fort Collins' Michael Chavez clocked a trials qualifier in 1:04:49, the only other Colorado resident to dip under the necessary 1:05 mark - showing that the half marathon qualifying time is tougher than the 2:19 marathon mark.

    Deeper results show Gunnison's Josh Eberly 15th in 1:05:33, Boulder's Kenyon Neuman 16th in 1:05:36, Boulder's Tyler McCandless 18th in 1:05:38, and Boulder's Pat Rizzo 20th in 1:06:07.

Trent Briney, who I believe ran at UCCS, was 25th in 1:06:31. Jason Finch was 26th in 1:06:43, but this appears to be Jason Finch from Wisconsin and not Denver's Jason Finch. Boudler's Austin Baillie was 28th in 1:06:59. Kennth Foster of the US Army Team in Colorado Springs was 44th in 1:09:01. Longmont's Bobby Reyes was 48th in 1:10:59.

Deeper results aren't yet available, but are sure to include more Coloradans. Boulder's Brent Vaughn was a disappointing DNF.

Ian Burrell and Cassie Slade DNF.

Good Runner's World article with quotes from Kennard.

Props to "Larimer Square" for calling Torres as top Coloradan. Ryan Hall's 2nd place finish means that the "dumprunner" owes me $5 though!

I'm sure you meant 1:12:03 on Nan's time, just a typo. That would have been pretty incredible of her though to have placed first in the guys race too and set a world record by 4 minutes!
