19 Miles Total

Went out and bought myself some bulky trainers, the Brooks Beast. Wait, that is a lie, I did pick up the Asics Speedstars, having spent most of the year doing all of my running in racing flats, running in a shoe with cushioning felt weird. Yet the Speedstar tips the scales at 8.9 ounces, thus still light for a training shoe.

I have to admit that the raised heel took a lot of pressure of my Achilles. The Achilles is still stiff, slightly sore, but I'm pretty sure that I am on the path to recovery, unless I do something stupid like jump my mileage to 80 in two weeks, which might happen.

So am I going to abandoned my minimalist shoes? No, I doubt that the shoes were the problem. The bulk of my training was in the spring, leading up to San Diego and I had zero problems with the Achilles. It wasn't until after the marathon that things turned south.

Thinking that I will run in the Speedstars for another month then rotate them with the racing flats.

I'd like to run the Des Moines Half Marathon, the marathon is out and I've already switched to the half. If I do run it, it will be ugly.
