Brown Cow Burgers is a new burger shop in Englewood and resides in the same building where Old School Burgers used to be. I had been to the Old School Burgers a long time ago when I used to work for Sports Authority Coporate. Old School Burgers was solid but I know that they had some issues with the health department as I remember seeing them on the news and that's not good for business.
It's always risky opening a burger joint in the same space occupied by a previous burger joint that couldn't stay in business. The inside of Brown Cow Burgers is nice and clean, employees looked professional, unlike Deluxe Burger. I ordered up a burger and fries, wanted to get a milkshake but since I'm trying to keep my girlish figure leading up to the San Diego Marathon, I went sans shake. The next test was the kids' test, we asked for chocolate milk. Now most of the gourmet fast food places have Horizon's Chocolate Milk, the girl said that they don't have chocolate milk, but that she could make some for the kids. This girl was clearly a full standard deviation smarter than the moron employed at Deluxe Burger who told me that they did not have chocolate milk when he had a gallon of milk and Hershey's chocolate syrup right behind him.
My burger was solid, above average and the fries were above average. They also have a more expansive menu than Smash Burger or Lark Burger, which has it's pros and cons.
Rankings:
1. Lark Burger
2. Smash Burger
3. Five Guys Burgers and Fries
4. Brown Cow Burgers
5. Old School Burgers
6. Walk In Burgers
7. Deluxe Burgers
I drove by a Fat Burger the other day and know that I ate at one 4-5 years ago, but can't remember what I thought of it. I'm not sure if it would fall into the same category as the restaurants above or if it's more analogous to fast food?
