Took the last three weeks off from running. Have been doing my calf stretches and eccentric calf raises.

Monday, went for a six mile run, achilles felt ok, a bit stiff. Then proceeded to run eight miles on Tuesday and it flared right back up. Hindsight, I should have been doing a 4-5 mile runs both day, but I was hoping it would be healed and I could put together a last ditched effort to run Des Moines.

No go, took the rest of the week off. Planning on taking another 2-3 weeks off, it's looking like 2010 might be done for me in terms of putting together any good races.

Both achilles are sore, but my left one finally got to the point where I could massage it. It took three weeks just to get to a point where I could touch/massage my achilles without great pain. My left achilles is still sore to the touch, but getting better. The hard part is knowing when to resume running, should one be pain free, or is a little pain ok?

The goal is to begin running in October, aka the best time of the year to run.
