| April 15, 2007 - The 2nd Annual Go Metro State 5k received my nod for best 5k of 2007. Keep in mind that I did not run every 5k in Colorado, thus my sample size was small. All proceeds for Go Metro State 5k race were to benefit the Metro State Cross-Country Team. Entry fee was $20 for no T-shirt and $25 with a T-shirt. I always like it when a race gives me the option. I opted for the $25 with shirt because it was an okay designed, polyester, T-shirt; great for working out in. I'm not willing to call it a "Tech Shirt", but it was better than cotton. The course was USATF certified and started at the Auraria Campus in downtown Denver. Parking was a breeze and also free. The race had 250 runners with 17 of those runners finishing under 17 minutes, thus it was a small but talented field. It's not often anyone gets to run downtown with no traffic, thus I always enjoy any race that takes place in downtown Denver . The Go Metro State course was also extremely fast and flat and was held during a good time of year (April), which allowed for a good chance of running in cool temperatures. Overall - splendid race. http://studentactivities.mscd.edu/5k/index.html |
