September 16, 2007-The USATF Certified 5k course started at Wheat Ridge High School. The race
funds benefited Wheat Ridge High School. The entry fee was $25 for early entry and $30 for late
entry. The race packet included a long sleeve cotton shirt that was decent.

This was the second year in a row that I have run this race. I vote with my dollars which means I
enjoyed the race enough in 2006 to come back.

The race started at the Wheat Ridge High School making it's way on city streets near Exempla
Lutheran Medical Center before returning back to the High School. The 2007 race drew 659
participants. It was apparent this race has been around for a long time. It was well organized and the
post race refreshments and food were great.

I have a two complaints and suggestions. First, the race makes two u-turns. A u-turn should always
be avoided in a race, but in a 5k race, u-turns are more of a hindrance. Avoid u-turns by circling a
block. The race also starts at 9am and with the temperatures in September still being fairly warm.
The race should be moved back to 8am.

The Farmers 5000 is a solid race and one that I will consider doing again in 2008.
