The High Line Canal is the most popular trail in Denver.  It's a fantastic trail for a long run, as it
stretches for miles, you can turn around at any time and it's relatively flat.  The trail is wide, and
mostly dirt, with some fine crushed gravel.

Mile marker zero is located at the Goodson Recreation Center, which can be located:

Goodson Recreation Center
6315 S University Blvd
Centennial, CO 80121

From the Goodson Recreaction Center you have two options, you can head south or north.  Most
runners will elect to go North.  This is the route that I have followed, and you can find a map and
elevation chart below to coincide with a twenty mile run.  The High Line Canal has markers to indicate
every half mile ran, and these are indicated by a numeric post in the ground.  You can turn around at
any point on the trail, thus I turned around at the ten mile marker.

The High Line Canal offers tree coverage, and while running the trail you will see numerous
expensive homes that back up to the Canal.  The trail is open year round, however it's difficult to run
on the trail during the winter months as the snow does not melt immediately due to the shade.

Be warned that there are a few streets crossings that can get busy.  Also on the trail you may
see/encounter Coyotes and Foxes.

I would rate this trail for beginners, due to the minimal elevation gains.  It's still an excellent trail as it's
well groomed, and you will find may other runners and cyclist making use of the trail.  You can also
pick up the trail at any point along the stretch, not just the Goodson Recreation Center.
